A teenager has told how he was left permanently scarred after a man held down his hand and pressed a hot teaspoon onto the back of it.
Alistair Foggo is accused of carrying out a nine-year campaign of abuse against the boy and a woman.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that the youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, considered the treatment he endured to be “normal” as it had gone on for so long.
The boy, who was between the ages of seven and nine when he was burned, said the incident had left him with a patch of discoloured skin above his left wrist.
He said: “I remember being burned on the back of the hand with a teaspoon. He pressed it to the back of my hand.
“I always had bruises and I still have the mark from the spoon on the back of my hand. It’s a small curved mark
“I grew up with it (the abuse) so it was almost the norm for me.”
Asked by Foggo’s solicitor, Paul Parker-Smith, if anyone had noticed the bruising the boy responded that they were never mentioned and could have been mistaken for sports injuries.
Foggo, a retained firefighter, is faces charges that he conducted himself in a disorderly manner towards his ex-partner between September 1, 2001, and June 30, 2010.
He is said to have repeatedly called and sent messages to her to check on her whereabouts, repeatedly called her offensive names and made abusive comments towards her, repeatedly accused her of being unfaithful to him and repeatedly seized her telephone to check her calls and texts.
The 46-year-old is said to have then hidden a voice activated dictaphone in her car as well as placing tracker devices in her mobile phone and laptop, before denying her access to her mail, money and refusing to let her go out with friends.
A further charge alleges that between July 13, 2002, and June 30, 2010, he assaulted a boy, born in 1999, by repeatedly striking, kicking and punching him on the head and body, on one occasion throwing a glass at him and placing a hot metal spoon on the back of the boy’s hand to his injury and permanent disfigurement.
A final charge alleges that between September 1, 2010, and June 30, 2010, Foggo assaulted his ex by throwing a bottle of water at her, repeatedly seizing her and throwing her down a flight of stairs and repeatedly throwing items at her, striking her with a roll of bin bags and repeatedly placed a hot metal spoon on her bare skin.
Foggo, of Mill Street, Stanley, Perthshire, denies the charges.
The case continues.
