A motorist who was caught drink driving twice in the space of four months has been jailed.
George Brown was two-and-a-half times the legal limit when he was caught in October 2015.
He was stopped again in February of this year and, when breathalysed, had a reading just in excess of the legal limit of 22 mics.
Perth Sheriff court heard that the 54-year-old had previously been convicted of the same offence in 2012.
Brown’s solicitor, John McLaughlin, said: “Clearly he accepts the court is considering a custodial sentence.
“He realises now that alcohol must be avoided at all costs.”
He said that Brown would have to rely on other methods of getting around, including using the ambulance service’s patient transport system for hospital appointments.
Brown admitted driving with 55 mics in his system on Precinct Street and Union Street, Coupar Angus, October 3 last year.
He also admitted driving on Causewayend, Coupar Angus, with 30 mics in his system on February 9, while he was on bail.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis told Brown: “The fact of the matter is that since 2012 you have been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol on three occasions.
“In particular, the two offences before me today are a matter of four months apart and you were subject to bail.”
He sentenced Brown, of Precinct Street, Coupar Angus, to four months in prison and banned him from the roads for seven years.
If Brown wants to get behind the wheel again he will then have to sit the extended driving test.
