A 76 year-old drug dealer is facing jail after he was convicted of supplying cannabis in a Tesco car park.
Denis McAinsh had denied being concerned in the supply of the class B drug on August 12 2014 at the Tesco store in Dundee’s Riverside Drive.
But a jury found him guilty by majority after a three day trial at Dundee Sheriff Court.
He had originally been charged with a group of other men accused of being involved in a Scotland-wide drug supply ring over the course of more than a year at locations in Dundee, Perth, Berwick and “elsewhere unknown”.
Some of that gang were eventually convicted and jailed – but the case against McAinsh was delayed due to his ill-health.
But he finally appeared in the dock for trial this week, flatly denying the allegations against him.
McAinsh, 76, of Garthland Drive, Glasgow, pleaded not guilty to the charge of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs on indictment.
However, a jury took around an hour to find him guilty by majority.
Sheriff George Way deferred sentence for a criminal justice social work background report.
