A nail technician was attacked by her partner in a Dunfermline beauty salon.
The assault was carried out on Saturday afternoon by Than Van Nguyen as customers looked on.
Appearing from custody with a translator, Van Nguyen, 30, of Burns Street, Dunfermline, admitted that on July 23 at Five Star Nails, Bruce Street, he assaulted Linh Khanh Phan by punching her on the head and kicking her on the body.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf told Dunfermline Sheriff Court the complainer and Van Nguyen live together.
They also work together at the nail salon and the incident happened there at 2.30pm on Saturday.
“The accused and complainer began speaking in their own language. He lunged towards her and punched her on the head. She showed no emotion,” said Ms Yousaf.
“He shouted at the complainer again and she started to cry. He then walked towards her and kicked her on the back causing her to land on a sofa nearby.”
A customer who had seen the incident and told him to stop then called the police.
Defence solicitor James Moncrieff said the couple, who speak little English, have two children.
He went on: “They had been working in their jobs as nail technicians on the day in question. He accepts there was an argument, things became heated and he lost his temper. His partner did not contact the police.
“He is very remorseful and upset about what he’s inflicted on his partner. She is still supportive of him.
“He appreciates his actions were completely unacceptable and he’s had a few nights in the cells to contemplate that.”
Sheriff Richard McFarlane deferred sentence for three months for Van Nguyen to be of good behaviour. He will return to court on October 26.
