A violent thug stabbed a man in the chest in an Angus New Year’s Day attack then shouted: “I’m going to do life.”
David Ramsay faces a prison sentence over the stabbing of Jamie Caldow in Brechin.
The pair had been at a party when an argument broke out.
Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson told Forfar Sheriff Court that Ramsay then went and armed himself with a kitchen knife before attacking his 27-year-old victim.
She said: “He pulled the knife from his waistband and held it towards complainer Jennifer Young.
“He then turned to Mr Caldow and assaulted him.
“Mr Caldow sustained a stab wound and it began to bleed heavily.
“The accused was then heard shouting ‘I’m going to do life’.”
However, Mr Caldow did not suffer any lasting injury and refused medical treatment for his injury.
Ramsay, 21, of Bridge Street, Brechin, Angus, pleaded guilty on indictment to two charges of assault to injury.
Defence solicitor Nick Markowski said: “He knows his liberty is at risk.”
Sheriff Gregor Murray deferred sentence until next month for social work background reports and released Ramsay on bail meantime.
He said: “You are facing a significant custodial sentence for this.
“I make that clear to you now.”
