A man bundled a woman into an industrial tumble dryer during a terrifying attack at a Tayside gym.
Brian Lorimer assaulted the 41-year-old at the popular Bannatyne health club in Perth.
He followed up the attack three days later, when he texted his victim and asked her if she would have sex with him.
The 51-year-old, from Rannoch Road, Letham, Perth, appeared at the city’s sheriff court on Tuesday and admitted charges of assault and a breach of the Communications Act.
A not guilty plea to an allegation of sexual assault at the gym on September 21 was accepted by prosecutors.
Sheriff Craig McSherry deferred sentence for background reports until October 20.
Lorimer was released on bail.
Tumble dryer
Represented in court by solicitor Linda Clark, he admitted assaulting the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at the Bannatyne gym on September 23, last year.
Court papers state he picked her up and placed her within an industrial tumble dryer.
He further admitted that on September 26, he sent the same woman a message that was “grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character.”
Lorimer asked the woman if she would have sex with him, according to court papers.
Full details of the case were not heard during Tuesday’s court appearance.
The case had been due to go to trial last year but was postponed because of issues related to legal aid and witness availability.
