A Dundee dealer supplied cannabis from his bedroom at his mum’s Dundee house.
David Moran, 25, was running his illicit drug business from his mother’s home on Finella Gardens for around five months.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard police received information of his involvement of supplying the Class B drug in August last year and thereafter raided the property.
Fiscal Depute Sue Ruta told the court: “The accused’s mother and sister were traced upstairs and the accused was within his bedroom.
“Police noticed a strong smell of cannabis and he said it was nothing to do with his mum. They asked what he was talking about and he replied ‘the drugs.’
“He went on to say ‘I know why you are here, it’s to search my room’.”
Police recovered a box containing 11 grams of herbal cannabis from his bedroom, with a value of £110, and two sets of scales from the kitchen.
They also found £810 cash in his bedroom, plastic bags, an iPhone and a Blackberry mobile phone.
The iPhone was found to have more than 100 text messages indicative of the sale of cannabis over a five-month period and the Blackberry had more than 1000 text messages of the same nature.
Solicitor Theo Finlay, defending, said: “His involvement with this was to supply cannabis to friends so these are people he would be communicating with anyway.
“He has now stopped smoking cannabis completely and is quite fearful of getting involved in anything like this again — he has very limited previous convictions.”
He added that half the money found in Moran’s bedroom belonged to his sister, who had been saving and Moran was looking after it on her behalf.
Moran admitted that between April 17 and August 19, both last year, at his home address, he was concerned in the supply of cannabis, a Class B drug.
Sheriff Elizabeth Munro said: “You have been very stupid to get caught up in this.”
She ordered he complete 100 hours of unpaid work within a six month period. Of the items recovered, £405 cash was forfeited, along with all other items.
Cannabis, a Class B drug, carries with it a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison, an unlimited fine or both for possession, and up to 14 years in prison, an unlimited fine or both for supply and production.
