Police uncovered thousands of pounds worth of crack cocaine in a holdall while searching a Dundee flat.
Evans Emuebie, 25, was snared with bags of the Class A substance while being housed by drug user Gary Murdoch.
Officers were called to the property on Brown Constable Pend by a neighbour who was suspicious about Emuebie’s presence.
Emuebie is now at risk of being jailed after he admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine in September last year.
He told police following his arrest: “Someone asked me to come up here.”
Murdoch, 35, was ordered to perform unpaid work after he admitted being in possession of Class B and Class C drugs.
Agreed to flat search
Dundee Sheriff Court heard how Murdoch, 35, let in police after they found the front door ajar.
Fiscal depute Gavin Burton said: “At the time of the offence, the accused Murdoch was allowing the accused Emuebie to stay at his property as a friend of a friend.
“Officers attended and Gary Murdoch presented himself and allowed the police access.
“The accused Emuebie was in the living room on a sofa by the kitchen and a black Adidas holdall was next to where he was seated.
“The accused Emuebie was escorted into the kitchen.
“He moved to take the holdall but was told to leave it, to which he agreed.”
Following an initial search, bags and wraps of crack cocaine were discovered as well as scales, mobile phones and SIM cards.
Mr Burton revealed the crack cocaine weighed a total of 44.88g with a maximum potential street value of £4,480.
Cannabis and etizolam tablets were discovered in the flat, which Murdoch said were for his own personal use.
He said: “I have nothing to do with the cocaine.”
Sentence deferred
First offender Emuebie, of Wolverhampton, pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug on September 25, 2020.
Murdoch pled guilty to possessing cannabis and etizolam on the same date.
Sheriff Craig Harris deferred sentence on Emuebie until November for reports to be prepared.
Murdoch was ordered to perform 38 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to a fine.
