A Murthly woman who crashed into a bridge more than eight times over the drink drive limit has been banned from driving for 30 months.
Christina Lochhead, 28, Cairniemuir, was found by concerned members of the public drifting in and out of consciousness after the crash on the B9099 at Caputh, Perthshire, in May last year.
When she was breathalysed by police Lochhead produced a reading of 177 microgrammes, well exceeding the legal limit of 22 microgrammes.
However, she failed to provide a second reading after claiming to have suffered a panic attack.
Lochhead had denied the charge but was found guilty after a trial at Perth Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Richard MacFarlane said: “You had seen fit to undertake two journeys when you had consumed a very considerable amount of alcohol
“The second of those two journeys was brought to a conclusion by you crashing into the railings on a bridge. You were found by concerned members of the public, drifting in and out of consciousness.”
He added: “By the time the police and paramedics became involved until the time that the matter was brought to a conclusion there seemed to be no evidence of you suffering a panic attack.
“I held you had no reasonable excuse for failing to provide the specimens of breath.”
Lochhead was found guilty of failing to provide two specimens of breath for analysis after driving on the B9099 at Caputh in Perthshire on 25 May last year.
As well as being banned from driving for 30 months, Lochhead was ordered to carry out 250 hours unpaid work in the community.
