A young man has been jailed for 15 months after being caught by police with more than £4,000 worth of cocaine.
David Dyer was caught by police during a traffic stop with a large quantity of controlled substances.
Police officers observed him throwing a small object from his car window while driving his vehicle in Dundee.
Procurator fiscal Emma Farmer detailed in Dundee Sheriff Court how police apprehended the 21-year-old.
“The accused was observed driving his vehicle eastwards on South Road, Dundee.
“Police observed accused put his hand out of the window and drop a small object out of the window.”
Dyer then drove at 30mph over the speed limit before stopping for police.
He told them he had thrown a cigarette out of the window.
When police searched Dyer, they discovered him to be in possession of multiple small bags of cocaine.
The cocaine, in total, was valued at £4,150.
Dyer refused to explain the circumstances around how he acquired so much of the drug.
Defending solicitor Theo Finlay told the court Dyer was a new father and had no history of substance misuse.
“His partner gave birth a few weeks ago,” said Mr Finlay.
“He has no history of drug misuse; he is not a drug user.”
Sheriff Lorna Drummond QC imposed a 15-month sentence for being concerned in the supply of the Class A substance.
