Yvonne Barr died after suffering multiple injuries at her home on the city’s Aboyne Avenue on November 5. Prosecutors allege her partner, 58-year-old Kenneth Melville, was responsible for her murder. Melville appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday in connection with the allegation. Court documents allege Melville, of the city’s Balcarres Terrace, assaulted Ms Barr, his partner, by repeatedly striking her on the head and body. It is alleged Melville murdered Ms Barr, 47, through “means unknown to the prosecutor”. Prosecutors says Melville was subject to a bail order from September 13 this year. Solicitor Anika Jethwa made no plea on Melville’s behalf during the brief hearing on petition. Melville’s case was continued for further examination by Sheriff John Rafferty who remanded him in custody meantime. He is expected to make a second court appearance next week.
