An ambulance technician has been banned from the roads after failing to provide police with a blood sample after a crash.
Jennifer Hobson was found to be unsteady and slurring her words after crashing her silver Ford Focus on the A92 in Fife on March 19 this year.
The 39-year-old was taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy but refused to give a blood sample after police suspected her of driving while under the influence of drugs.
Hobson is now expected to lose her job after she pled guilty to the offence at Dundee Sheriff Court.
White powder recovered
Prosecutor Larissa Milligan explained how traffic in both directions came to a halt after Hobson’s car had came to a stop on a small embankment on the A92 near Ladybank.
Police attended and spoke with an uninjured Hobson, who was described as slow and unsteady on her feet.
Miss Milligan said: “The accused went to her vehicle escorted by police.
“They recovered a black shoulder bag containing a plastic bag of white powder with white tablets.
“A negative roadside breath test was returned.
“A saliva test at the roadside returned a positive result for cocaine.”
Likely to lose job
After being taken to hospital, Hobson refused to comply with a further test through a specimen of blood after claiming she “did not know all her legal rights”.
Hobson, of Lochgelly, pled guilty to failing to provide a sample to ascertain her ability to drive on March 19 this year.
Solicitor Stuart Hamilton said Hobson was likely to lose her employment as a result of the conviction and had experienced a number of personal tragedies in the lead-up to the incident.
Hobson was fined £200 by Sheriff Alastair Carmichael who disqualified her from driving for 12 months.
