After a drunken row with her boyfriend, a Fife woman went on the rampage causing £6000 damage to his BMW by punching, kicking and striking it with a deck chair.
Candice Henderson “flipped” when she thought her partner had been contacting another female, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard.
Henderson, 23, of Provost Mill Way, Kelty, admitted that at her home on 1st May she recklessly damaged property belonging to someone else by repeatedly striking a car with a chair and also kicked and punched the vehicle.
The whole car was left dented and scratched.
Depute fiscal Alex Piper said Henderson had been drinking alcohol with friends before the incident.
“The car owner and the accused had been in a relationship for about a year and on this day they got into an argument,” Ms Piper told the court.
“The car was in the driveway and the accused picked up a deck chair and struck it. She then punched and kicked the car.
“The windscreen was smashed, there was a dent on the bonnet, a crack on the bumper, a dent on the boot, scratches and various other dents.
“The victim claimed through his insurance and his excess was £775.”
Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said, “This appears to be out of character for her and the parties wish to reconcile.
“Her partner was also charged. She says she was headbutted and swung around. When she appeared in court from custody she had bruising to both eyes.”
Mr Morrison said what had caused the flare-up was his client’s belief that her boyfriend had contacted another female.
“Drink had been taken and the red mist descended. She effectively flipped,” said Mr Morrison.
Sheriff Richard McFarlane said, “This must have been a sustained battering of the vehicle when every panel was damaged it appears. Your client must have been fired up with some anger in her.”
He told Henderson, “Drink may have been taken and in human terms I can understand your upset but you have gone completely over the top, venting your spleen on his motor car which may well be his pride and joy.”
He called for reports and Henderson will be sentenced on 28th September.
