A Perth man who was involved in sexual communication with an under-age teenage girl was ordered not to have any further contact with children.
Kieran Ferguson, 20, of Tweedsmuir Road, was also put on the sex offenders’ register for two years and ordered to carry out two years’ supervision as part of a community programme order.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that contact was made with a girl on Facebook.
Depute Fiscal Stuart Richardson said: “An adult carried out a check of the girl’s social media account by logging on to it and some photographs of the girl were found, showing naked parts of her body.
“The adult also found sexual communication with regard to the pair talking about meeting up for sex.
“The adult was concerned so police were contacted and Ferguson admitted the offence.
“He told officers he had forgotten about the girl’s age.”
Ferguson admitted that on October 5, 2014, at Eden Square, Tibbermore, he sent a sexual communication to a girl asking her to send pictures of her naked body to him.
He also pleaded guilty to a separate offence that on January 8 this year, at Scott Street, at its junction with Mill Street, Perth, he assaulted a man by punching him on the head.
Sentencing Ferguson, Sheriff Gillian Wade told him: “You have managed to carry out two very serious offences – both of which can attract custodial sentences.
“That is not an acceptable way to behave.”
She ordered Ferguson not to have any contact with children aged under-17 unless accompanied by a person aged over 21 and without notifying his social worker supervisor beforehand.
In addition, he was ordered to carry out 180 hours’ unpaid work for the assault.
