An Angus teenager has appeared in court accused of abducting and raping a 14-year-old girl in Arbroath.
John Dutch, 18, appeared in private on petition at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday afternoon.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
It is alleged he abducted a teenager, who cannot be named, at a car park near Meadowbank Inn, Arbroath, on January 31.
The petition alleges Dutch detained the youngster against her will, seized her arms, pulled her into his BMW car, drove a short distance, attempted to remove her clothing and raped her.
Police were spotted at the car park of the popular Arbroath restaurant for most of the day on Tuesday as officers searched the scene.
Blue tents were seen in the car park area, with onlookers noting white-suited forensics officers combing an area near the recycling bins, close to the function suite of the business which sits in the north of the town.
