A schoolgirl who woke in the middle of the night to find a man molesting her recalled how she locked herself in a cupboard to stop him from attacking her again.
Scott Galloway was convicted of two charges of indecent and libidinous behaviour at Dundee Sheriff Court.
The events happened to two women and spanned a period of almost 20 years at addresses in Dundee and Aberdeen.
Galloway, 63, showed no emotion as the verdict was read out but was concerned about the story appearing in the press as he left the courtroom, asking: “Is this going to be in the paper then?”
First victim
His first victim was only 12 when he touched her inappropriately at his flat in Dundee in the mid-1970s.
He told her as he did so to “pretend I am your boyfriend”.
Giving evidence at trial the woman, who we will only identify as Witness A, said she woke up to find Galloway “trying to kiss” her.
“I was in bed, he was beside me. He tried to kiss me.
“He asked me to pretend I was with my boyfriend.
“I can’t remember anything past that.
“I did not like it at all.”
Cross examining for Galloway, defence solicitor Billy Rennie asked Witness A if the incident did not happen, to which she responded: “That’s not true.”
Locked herself in cupboard
His second victim, Witness B, recalled how in the mid-1990s she had woken up in her bed in Aberdeen with Galloway crouched beside her.
He was touching her inappropriately under the covers.
She was 13 at the time.
“I felt something moving between my thighs,” she told the court.
“I then quickly realised there was a hand between my legs.
“After a moment I woke up, he was kneeling at the side of my bed. His hands were under the blanket.
“He said I was making a noise and had come to check on me.”
She said: “He then came back 20 minutes later and I sat right up and asked him why he had come back into my room.”
The woman then slept in another room the next night, but inside a cupboard which had a lock on it.
“I was scared he was going to come back to room again. I put the chain lock across the cupboard door.”
Galloway, of Bank Street, Arbroath, was found guilty at trial of committing a lewd, libidinous and indecent practice towards a girl at an address in Dundee for about a year and a half during the 1970s.
He was also found guilty of using libidinous, lewd and indecent practices and behaviour towards another girl, then aged over 12 and under 16 years of age, and did while she was asleep place his hands inside her clothing.
He was acquitted of three other charges.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis deferred sentence on Galloway until March 21 for reports.
