A former toy shop worker has admitted downloading hundreds of depraved images and videos of children as young as five.
Grant Nicholson, 30, pleaded guilty to having a stash of indecent images at his home in Dundee.
The city’s sheriff court heard that police raided Nicholson’s property in Arklay Street after receiving a tip-off that he may have been downloading illicit files.
Officers seized several devices and uncovered a cache of images, including hundreds of photos at the highest end of the court’s obscenity scale.
Victims as young as five years old
Depute fiscal Lora Apostalova told the court: “At the time of the offence the accused was single and worked as a customer sales advisor at a toy store in Dundee.
“The case called on petition on November 26 2020 and the accused has been on bail for the lifetime of this case.”
She said: “Intelligence suggested the accused might have indecent images.
“Analysis of devices found included 774 inaccessible images: 232 at Category A, 99 at Category B and 433 at Category C.
“Officers also found 37 minutes of video which were inaccessible.”
The fiscal depute added: “Accessible videos of Category C and A of a total of 42 minutes were recovered.”
She added that the ages of the children involved were between five and 15 years old.
Sheriff Gregor Murray placed Nicholson on the sex offenders register and deferred sentence for reports until March 16.
