An inmate from Castle Huntly who allegedly absconded from the prison is back behind bars.
David Arthur, 31, c/o HMP Castle Huntly, appeared in private on petition at Perth Sheriff Court before Sheriff Linda Smith yesterday.
He faced a charge that having been sentenced to six years and eight months at the High Court in Glasgow on December 3, 2013, he was granted temporary release leave at HMP Castle Huntly from 8am-5pm each day from October 12, he failed to return by 5pm on October 17 and did so with intent to defeat the ends of justice.
Arthur made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody for further examination.
