A woman pelted a Lochgelly man’s home with eggs in a five-hour attack, a court has heard.
Leah Fleming laid siege to the address in the town’s Paul Street with a friend.
In addition to throwing the eggs, the pair took a shovel from a nearby work site and used it to damage the door of the property.
The friend Darian Osborne, had formerly appeared as a co-accused but pled guilty to some charges at an earlier hearing.
During a trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court Fleming blamed her for carrying out the attack, claiming she was trying to stop her.
She also claimed the victim, Ryan Geddes, had begun the egg-throwing.
Egg attack
Mr Geddes told the court he was home alone when Fleming, 22, and her friend arrived at his property.
He said: “I was in my house and Leah appeared.
“She’s someone I know – I stayed with her for a few weeks when I was homeless and after that she was always turning up at my house.
“She threw eggs at my house for five hours.”
He said police later arrived at his home but that he had not given them a statement.
His former neighbour Kareen Conway told the court she had called the police after she and her daughter had witnessed Fleming and her friend attack the house.
She said: “I saw two girls at Ryan Geddes’ door, roaring and swearing.
“They went to get a shovel – there were workmen in the road – and started banging it on the door.”
Asked if she had seen Mr Geddes throw any eggs, she replied: “Yes, because Leah and her friend had been doing it (throwing eggs) for hours.
“They came back from the shops with trays of eggs and started throwing them at his windows.”
Provocation claim
However, giving evidence in her own defence Fleming claimed Osborne was responsible for the offences.
She also claimed Mr Geddes had “goaded” them into coming to the property as they had been arguing with him.
Fleming told the court: “Ryan started chucking eggs out the window.
“Me and Darian were leaving because we didn’t want egged.
“There were children about and they said to Darian we should get eggs and egg his house, so she did.
“Darian was chucking eggs at his window.
“The only time I said anything was when I was trying to get Darian away.”
She added the only time she had touched the shovel was when trying to take it away from her friend.
Guilty
Rejecting her evidence, Sheriff David Hall told her: “It may have been Ms Osborne that brought the shovel but I accept that you had a shot of it as well.”
Fleming, of School Street, Cowdenbeath, was found guilty of wilfully damaging a door at the address by striking it with a shovel and to conducting herself in a disorderly manner by shouting, swearing and throwing eggs on April 4, 2020.
She was found not guilty of possessing an offensive weapon.
Sentence was deferred for reports.
On the same night, in the same street, Osborne, 23, of Netherton Gardens, Kelty, and another man, Callum Nicholson, 20, of North Street, Lochgelly shouted, acted aggressively, threw a crowbar and made a threat of violence to a male.
Nicholson admitted he struck two glass panels with a crowbar, causing them to smash.
Osborne admitted shouting, swearing and throwing an egg.
