A Fife man caught with more than £3,500 worth of cocaine hidden in a Haribo tub said he was holding it for someone else to pay off a debt.
David Morrison, 33, of Keith Street in Kincardine, pled guilty to a charge of being concerned in the supply of the class A drug on December 4 2020.
Procurator fiscal depute Laura McManus told Dunfermline Sheriff Court police carried out a search of Morrison’s home and entered though an insecure front door.
Officers found a Haribo tub in a kitchen cupboard containing various bags, scales, a spoon and a small tub.
The depute fiscal said one blue bag was found to contain 27.26g of cocaine with a potential street value of £2,720, while another containing 7.4g had a street value of £720.
A plastic tub containing 0.75g of cocaine had the potential to fetch nearly £80.
Ms McManus said Morrison was arrested on January 3 last year and told officers he allowed his home to be used to store drugs for another person.
He said he left the door insecure so that person could enter and deposit them.
This was consistent with police finding the door insecure when they searched the property.
The depute fiscal said: “He stated he owed a debt to this person.”
Sheriff Susan Duff adjourned sentencing until April 25 for the production of background reports and Morrison was released on bail.
