A Dundee man has admitted punching the neighbour of a friend as he became involved in a dispute between the two.
Rossco Stern, 28, appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court.
He had hit the man in an altercation in St Columba Gardens on April 6, the court was told.
Stern had also challenged him to a fight and threatened him with being “stabbed”.
A visibly upset Stern was bailed by Sheriff George Way, pending social work and criminal justice reports and a restriction of liberty order assessment, which could see him subjected to a curfew.
Stern has also been banned from entering the tenement building at St Columba Gardens until sentencing on May 10.
Threats and punch
Depute fiscal Lee Corr told the court the victim and his partner were in their property at 8.25pm when Stern knocked at their door.
He answered with his partner standing behind him.
Ms Corr said: “The accused stated ‘come outside then, big man’.”
She said Stern swung a punch before the door could be pushed shut.
“The accused continued to shout ‘come out here big man’ and then said ‘you’re getting f**king stabbed’.
“The partner began to barricade the door, fearing the accused might try to force entry.”
The police were called and Stern was found at home.
Initial dispute
The court heard the initial dispute was between the victim and another, unknown, associate of Stern.
Stern had been drinking.
He has previously served time in prison for another serious conviction.
Stern, of St Ninian Terrace, pled guilty to two charges on April 6 at St Columba Gardens.
He acted in a threatening and abusive manner and assault.
Stern will return for sentencing on May 10.
