A Fife man has been accused of assaulting a newborn baby to the danger of its life.
Stephen Graham, 27, allegedly squeezed the child’s torso, repeatedly shook him and threw him on to a hard surface.
He denied assaulting the tot to his severe injury and to the danger of his life when he was only two or three weeks old.
The offence is alleged to have taken place at an address in Glenrothes or elsewhere on a date between April 20 and April 28 2014.
Graham, who is in custody in Perth Prison, appeared in Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court for a continued first diet on Tuesday.
Sheriff James Williamson said the charge against him was of a very serious and very sensitive nature.
Graham also pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing amphetamine and cannabis and producing cannabis at the same address while on bail on June 12, last year.
