Pruijsten's dog attacked on Cowdenbeath High Street.

A pensioner allowed his dog to roam free on a high street and bite another pet and its owner in Cowdenbeath.

Antonius Pruijsten’s Dogue de Bordeux was off the lead and dangerously out of control in the town on October 19 last year.

Court papers state the dog was allowed to roam free and attack, bite and drag another dog, owned by John Adams, before biting Mr Adams himself on the body to his injury.

The incident happened close to the Old Cross Guns pub.

Pruijsten, 71, of Glanfarg Crescent, Cowdenbeath, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court to admit the charge, contrary to the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

Procurator fiscal depute Sean Maher made a motion for the destruction of the dog and for a banning order.

The court heard a report is still being sought from the vet as part of the defence case.

Sheriff Charles Macnair QC adjourned sentencing until May 25 for the production of background reports.

The sheriff told Pruijsten’s defence lawyer: “That will give you the opportunity to obtain any reports you see fit for defence and I will continue consideration of the two Crown motions.”
