A Dunfermline senior nurse who “lost it” and attacked her teenage daughter has been told to carry out unpaid work by a sheriff.
Michelle Walls was previously found guilty of the assault following a two-day trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
The 45-year-old seized her daughter by the hair and dragged her to the ground, sat astride her and hit her head off the ground.
She returned to court on Friday for sentencing.
Defence lawyer Aime Allan told the court Walls is a senior nurse and the General Medical Council is aware of court proceedings.
The court heard at the time of the incident on November 20 2020, when her daughter was aged 17, Walls had been doing a long shift and had just returned to work after a period of ill health.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said she came home to find her daughter and three others who were “worse for wear” and experienced a “volley of abuse”.
The sheriff told Walls: “You were convicted of a reduced charge but this involved seizing your daughter’s hair… dragging her to the ground, sitting astride her and hitting her head off the ground.
“Thankfully there was no injury caused but more by luck than any planning.
“In short, you lost it.”
The sheriff sentenced her to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work within a year.
The court also heard Walls, of Dunfermline’s Hardie Terrace, has a previous assault conviction from 2002.
