A man has been fined after a family feud assault at Kirriemuir’s Bon Fest music gathering.
Edward Gonclaves hit the partner of his girlfriend’s mother with a full can of beer in the festival field of April’s tenth anniversary event celebrating AC/DC drummer Bon Scott.
Forfar sheriff court heard there had been acrimony between Gonclaves and his victim prior to the offence at the Logie field.
Depute fiscal Jill Drummond said the attack happened just before 11.30pm when words were initially exchanged before the incident erupted into violence. The can of beer burst when it hit the victim and Gonclaves then continued to punch the man.
Stewards from the Logie Field festival quickly stepped in to deal with the car park assault.
The accused’s agent said 48-year-old first offender Gonclaves, of Meikleinch Lane, Bathgate had a “hazy” recollection of events because he was under the influence of alcohol.
