A Perth meat thief will be sentenced next month.
Robert Lomas was not present at the city’s sheriff court when his solicitor Paul Ralph pled guilty on his behalf.
Lomas, of Bracken Brae, admitted stealing a quantity of meat from the Co-op branch in North Muirton on February 9 in 2020.
The 45-year-old is due in court on June 28 to be sentenced.
Car cleaning calamity
Calamitous car valet Craig Hill hit the wrong pedal in the car he was cleaning, sending it careering into another parked car which smashed into a house in Largoward, Leven.
Thousands of pounds of damage was caused to the house and the homeowner’s car was written off.
The impact was such that owner Thomas Pryde’s car licence plate was found in his hallway.
Mr Pryde and his wife were left homeless for nine months, Dundee Sheriff Court heard.
Hill will be sentenced next month after admitting a careless driving charge.
Prison phone
A Dundonian has admitted being caught with an illicit mobile phone in HMP Perth.
Charlie Hill, of Tummel Place, was not present when his solicitor admitted the offence on his behalf at Perth Sheriff Court.
The 38-year-old admitted that while he was locked up in the Edinburgh Road jail’s C-Hall on February 8 in 2020, he had an illegal phone without permission or reasonable excuse.
His solicitor Billy Watt said: “Mr Hill does have an unenviable record.”
Hill will be sentenced on June 1 when a social work report has been written up.
Hapless thief
Hapless crook Daniel Tucker has been jailed for two years. He admitted raiding premises across Dundee, including a chip shop, hairdressers and a storage container. He was caught in one shop and said he was worried it was open because of the spate of recent break-ins in the area.
