A man has appeared in court after being charged in connection with the murder of an Auchterarder car mechanic whose body was found in a burning car.
Rafal Lyko was found dead inside a Mercedes GLE in 2019 when emergency services were called to the car fire in Greenhall Park in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, on February 11.
Thomas Wilson, 25, from Glasgow, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court charged with 36-year-old Mr Lyko’s murder.
He made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.
He was released on bail.
‘Devastated’ family
Mr Lyko, 36, from Auchterarder, vanished after visiting the Perthshire town, where his parents stay, just days before.
On the anniversary on his death in February 2020, Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Jamieson, of the Police Scotland East Major Investigation Team, said he and his colleagues were determined to get justice for the sake of Mr Lyko’s loved ones.
“His family have been left devastated by his death and they deserve answers,” he said.
“We are determined to trace the person or persons responsible and bring them to justice.”
