Hafiz Rizvi, a cleric at the Taj Der E Madina Mosque in Dundee’s Victoria Road, was arrested over the alleged assault in August. He is accused of repeatedly slapping a seven-year-old boy on the head at the Mosque on August 22. Dundee Sheriff Court was earlier told the incident had allegedly occurred during an Arabic lesson Rizvi was holding at the establishment. Rizvi, 38, of Wolsely Street, Dundee, denied a charge on summary complaint of assault. Sheriff John Rafferty continued the case to a trial date in the new year.
