Daily court round-up graphic

A “raging” son who assaulted his 61-year-old dad during a drunken outburst at his family’s home in Coupar Angus will be supervised.

Perth Sheriff Court previously heard Neil Hutton, with his father and mother, had been drinking at the family home in Brodie’s Yard on November 6.

Depute Fiscal Rebecca Kynaston said: “At about 10pm, his mother asked him to walk the dogs.

“When he returned, he appeared to be in a raging mood. He was shouting and swearing.”

Hutton then punched his father in the face several times.

Ms Kynaston said: “Mr Hutton Snr fell over to the floor.

“The accused’s mother called the police.”

The victim was left with bruises to his face and head.

Sheriff Rhona Wark placed Hutton under supervision for a year and ordered him to complete 80 hours of unpaid work.

His solicitor Paul Ralph said: “He is aware he can’t continue to behave like this.”

Paedophile jailed

Paedophile Stephen Bell, who followed girls in a Dundee playpark, before indecently touching himself in front of them, has been jailed. It was one of several sexual offences admitted by the 62-year-old.

Stephen Bell has been jailed.

Double trouble

A Perth man has admitted a double-assault in the city’s Dunkeld Road.

Jed Phillips attacked Jack Lewington and Rhys Guthrie on March 22, last year.

Perth Sheriff Court heard the 28-year-old, of Nimmo Avenue, punched both men in the head to their injury.

Sheriff Francis Gill deferred sentence for background reports until August 10.

Horse neglect

Perthshire horse owner Donna Breen faces a ban on keeping animals after a horse in her care died through her neglect. Breen, 43, admitted causing two horses unnecessary suffering at a property near Methven.

Donna Breen neglected the horses at Wester Sunnyside, near Perth.

Mirror assault

A Tayport woman has admitted attacking her partner with a “mirror.”

Samantha Reilly appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court to admit an assault and acting threateningly.

The 33-year-old pled guilty to throwing a mirror or similar item towards her partner at her home in Lundin Crescent on June 20.

She also admitted acting aggressively towards him and repeatedly shouting and swearing.

Sheriff John Rafferty released her on bail with special conditions and ordered reports ahead of sentencing on July 22.

Fence smash

An under-the-influence driver smashed into a fence on a Perth street, forcing pedestrians to jump out of the way.

Dale MacDonald admitted driving a Vauxhall Corsa carelessly in Brahan Terrace on New Year’s Day 2020.

Perth Sheriff Court heard the 31-year-old drove at excessive speeds for the road conditions, before failing to negotiate a turn and colliding with a fence.

The charge states this caused pedestrians to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

MacDonald, who also admitted driving while disqualified, was “under the influence of some unknown substance,” according to court papers.

Sentence was deferred for background reports until July 13.

MacDonald, of Pomarium Street, Perth, was banned from driving in the interim.

Dundee drug dealers

Wendy Connelly, 44, was jailed for nearly seven years after admitting three counts of drug dealing, involving heroin and cocaine. Her co-accused, Andrew Lindsay was imprisoned for more than three years for similar charges.

Dangerous Dundee driver

Svetlozar Ivanov admitted driving dangerously through Dundee.

He was not present at Dundee Sheriff Court but admitted the offence by letter.

The 25-year-old drove a silver Nissan at excessive speeds on the A92 East Dock Street on February 5, above the limit.

Ivanov, of Maitland Street, is due back in court to be sentenced on July 7.
