An 18-year-old Fife man has appeared in court to face 15 allegations of stealing catalytic converters.
Logan Turner is accused of stealing the car parts – which clean up harmful gases before they exit the exhaust pipe – mainly at the Halbeath and Ferrytoll park and rides at Crossgates and Inverkeithing, respectively.
According to court papers, the alleged thefts took place on various occasions between March and May this year.
Turner is also accused of stealing a catalytic converter at St Andrews Erskine Parish Church in Dunfermline‘s Robertson Road, between April 25 and May 3.
He also faces a single charge of jacking up a vehicle in Rosyth‘s Primrose Lane and beginning to grind the exhaust and attempting to steal a catalytic converter on May 18.
On the same date, he is alleged to have wasted police time by falsely representing to a police call handler his car had been stolen.
Turner, of Hillview Place in Crossgates, denied all of the charges when he appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court in front of Sheriff Francis Gill.
A trial date was set for September 23 and a pre-trial intermediate diet was fixed for September 8.
Police Scotland has regularly issued warnings to motorists on social media in recent years about catalytic converters thefts, with thieves thought to be targeting the car part due to the precious metals contained inside.
