A man has appeared in court on a petition alleging murder.
Adrian Hynd, 51, made no plea or declaration when he appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
Hynd, whose address was given only as Kirkcaldy, was charged with murder following the death of 25-year-old Alex Forbes in the town’s Victoria Road last week.
Hynd was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
Mr Forbes, 25, was declared dead by ambulance crews after being called to a flat in Victoria Road.
A large police presence has remained in the area since Mr Forbes’ death, sealing off the block of flats at the junction of Bennochy Road, as forensic officers examined the scene.
Mourning their loss, the family of Mr Forbes, who was from Edinburgh, said in a statement: “Alex was so young and died so tragically.
“His death has left us utterly shocked and devastated.
“He was loved by his family and everyone who knew him and we are now trying to come to terms with our loss.
“We would ask for our privacy to be respected at this time while we grieve.”
Mr Hynd is next expected to appear in court later this month.
