A Celtic supporter who dropped his trousers to “moon” at opposition fans has been warned he faces being banned from attending football.
Jay Jackson exposed his bottom in full view of 3,000 spectators – including young children – while his team’s match against Dundee was taking place.
Jackson, 23, was with other Celtic supporters at Dens Park when he exposed himself in the Bob Shankly Stand.
He admitted carrying out an act of public indecency on November 7 2021, shortly after the start of the second half.
The match had begun with a minute’s silence for Remembrance Day, disrupted by sections of the Celtic support, before the visiting fans delayed the start of the game by throwing tennis balls onto the pitch.
Spotted on CCTV
Fiscal depute Lee Corr told Dundee Sheriff Court: “It was Sunday November 7 2021 and Dundee were playing Celtic.
“There was a crowd of around 3,000 in attendance.
“At 1.07pm the operational manager for security and safety was on patrol between the Bob Shankly Stand and the pitch.
“He was alerted by stewards that the accused had his trousers down and was exposing his bare buttocks.
“CCTV was reviewed and he was observed to be exposing his buttocks.
“It would have been to the Dundee fans.
“Police were advised. At 1.57pm officers arrested the accused.”
He told them: “If you watch the CCTV back I was spat at.”
‘He thought this was funny’
Solicitor Jim Caird, defending, said Jackson, from Bo’ness, was “extremely embarrassed and ashamed at his behaviour”.
Mr Caird said: “He was very drunk, unfortunately, and he thought this was funny.
“That is his explanation.
“He is a Celtic supporter. He was among the Celtic fans.”
He told the court his client was a bricklayer but had not been working since the untimely death of his father, who had run the family business.
Sheriff George Way deferred sentence for reports and noted Jackson had racked up a number of previous convictions for public order offences.
He said he would consider the imposition of a football banning order when Jackson is sentenced next month.
Despite goals from Danny Mullen and Lee Ashcroft, Dundee lost the match 2-4.
