A Dundee mum caught with thousands of pounds worth of cannabis and amphetamines and numerous mobile phones in her family home has been jailed.
Kamila Malesza previously pled guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court to being concerned in the supply of both drugs.
Fiscal depute Lee Corr explained police executed a search warrant at her home in Crescent Lane on January 22 2020.
Officers arrived at 9.40am and found a glasses case full of wraps of powder, a bag of herbal matter and a purse containing white powder.
“As the search carried on, it was apparent to police that there was a sizeable quantity of suspected controlled drugs present within the locus,” Mr Corr added.
Malesza, 37, was arrested and taken to police HQ.
Cash and drugs found throughout home
Police uncovered a further purse containing coins, a box of coins, tubs containing foil wraps and a Sony mobile.
In the kitchen, they found four more mobile phones, along with jars of herbal matter and foil wraps, as well as loose wraps, scales and tablets.
More herbal matter was uncovered in bags and tick list was also found by police, along with another two purses full of cash.
In Malesza’s bedroom, more tablets and cash was found.
Officers uncovered two bags of white substance and more cash, along with two more Sony mobiles in a second bedroom.
A further two Huawei mobiles were found in a third bedroom, as well as more of the white substance.
More cash was found in a fourth bedroom.
Malesza’s Fiat Punto was also searched and a bag of white powder was found under a seat.
This, along with some of the wraps and tablets, did not test positive for illicit substances.
In total, police found £1,382 worth of amphetamines, along with more than 250 grammes of cannabis, worth £2,580.
A total of £5,066.44 in cash was also seized and forfeited to the Crown.
Prison for first drugs offence
Solicitor Ian Houston said mother-of-two Malesza, a cleaner who moved to Scotland from Poland in 2008, had never profited from dealing.
“She was in financial difficulty.
“She succumbed to the temptation.
“She wasn’t sure how much she was to receive.
“In any event, she got nothing.
“It is, as far as drugs are concerned, her first offence.”
Sheriff Alison Michie jailed Malesza for four and a half months.
She said while many dealers get involved in the drug trade while in “the throes” of addiction, her reasons were for purely financial gain.
“These are very serious offences,” she said.
“You’re somebody who is in employment and has taken this decision.
“Clearly this offence merits a custodial sentence.”
