A pregnant woman threatened to set her dog on a female police officer before attacking her with a Timberland boot.
Louise Marshall refused to get out of her car during a fracas in West Moulin Road, Pitlochry.
She shouted at PC Amanda Young that she had a broken foot and told her: “You’re not arresting me.”
The 42-year-old swung a boot at the police officer’s head, before digging her nails into her face.
Perth Sheriff Court heard the police officer was lucky to get away unscathed.
Marshall, of Main Street, Methven, appeared in the dock and admitted assaulting PC Young and scratching her face on August 27 2019.
She was cleared of a separate allegation of stealing drinks from the nearby Co-op, a few days earlier.
She was fined £270.
Swung boot at police officer
The court heard Marshall lost her temper after she was approached by the officer in connection to a separate manner.
Marshall screamed at her: “You’re not arresting me, I’ve done nothing wrong. I’m pregnant.”
She added: “I’m going to set the dog on you.”
Fiscal depute Matthew Kerr said: “The officer could see that there was a dog in the rear of the vehicle.”
Marshall repeatedly said she had broken her foot.
“A slipper could be seen on the accused’s right foot and it appeared to be a genuine injury,” the prosecutor said.
“PC Young took a hold of the accused’s left wrist and tried to help her out of the car.
“The accused began to struggle and pulled her hand away.
“She then tried to pick up her handbag and a Timberland boot from the front footwell.”
Mr Kerr told the court: “PC Young took a hold of her right wrist and helped her out of the car, being mindful of her pregnancy and fractured foot.
“Once outside the vehicle, the accused began to move her arms around and screamed the same phrases as before.
“She managed to grab the boot from the front passenger seat and swung it twice at the constable.”
The boot failed to connect, Mr Kerr said.
“The accused then took her left hand and grabbed the right side of PC Young’s face.
“She dug her nails in and pushed her head away with force.”
As she continued to shout about being pregnant, Marshall was handcuffed and propped up against the police van.
Marshall was then taken to hospital for treatment, before being transferred to Perth police station.
When charged, she told officers: “I pushed her but I never hit her with a boot.
“I also apologised to the woman.”
‘Entirely unacceptable’
Solicitor Paul Ralph, defending, said his client had suffered torn ligaments.
“That was the reason she couldn’t get out of the car.
“It was once she left the vehicle that her behaviour deteriorated.”
Sheriff Alison Michie told Marshall: “While I accept that you had an injury to your foot, clearly your behaviour on this day was entirely unacceptable.
“It was fortunate that there was no injury to the officer.”
