A Cupar thug threatened to cut his former girlfriend’s dad like a “can of beans”.
James Stewart, 23, sent a series of obscene and threatening messages to his ex-partner and repeatedly threatened to kill her dad.
Stewart, of Tarvit Mill Caravan Park, admitted sending the abusive texts and smashing up his former girlfriend’s blue Ford Fiesta windscreen in July, last year.
The incident started in the car park of Stratheden Hospital in the Fife town, after Stewart flew into a rage over his partner’s social media use.
He had “banned” her from using sites like Facebook, Dundee Sheriff Court was told.
Gun threat
The cowardly domestic abuser threatened to blow “two holes” in her father’s chest if he “came after” him.
Depute fiscal Lora Apostolova said: “At 9.50pm on July 4, the complainer took a call in the car park of Stratheden.
“The accused overheard her talking about being on Facebook.
“The accused did not want her to be on Facebook.”
She said: “An argument escalated and Stewart snatched the phone from her.”
Stewart shouted: “Remember, I have a knife and I will cut you open right here.”
The fiscal depute said: “The woman was petrified at this point and was crying at this time.
“She ran back to her car and was chased by the accused.
“He smashed the windscreen of her car and removed the rim from her tires.
“She then drove to her mother’s house.
“The accused left a voicemail on her phone.”
Stewart was heard saying: “Why are you on Facebook? You and your breed. You will regret this.”
A short time later he said: “Tell your father I will blow two holes in him, clean through his chest if he comes for me.”
Followed by: “I will cut your dad open like a can of beans.
“I will shoot him in the face.”
Ms Apostolova said: “The accused was arrested, cautioned and charged on July 7. He responded: ‘I regret it’.”
Stewart admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner, smashing his former partner’s windscreen and sending obscene, menacing and offensive messages and repeatedly threatening to kill his ex-partner’s father on July 4 2021.
His sentence was deferred and he will return to Dundee Sheriff Court on September 22. His bail was continued.
