A 32-year-old man has been accused of endangering hotel guests and staff by swinging from a glass chandelier in the central foyer.
Ross MacPhail is alleged to have acted in a culpable and reckless manner by carrying out the stunt at the Sleeperz Hotel in Dundee.
MacPhail allegedly climbed on to the chandelier before swinging on it and causing shards of glass to fall to the ground below.
He was due to go on trial at Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday, but the case was postponed for a month because the accused is working offshore.
Claims employee was struck
MacPhail, of Jarvis Place, Carnoustie, denies culpably and recklessly climbing on to and swinging on the chandelier at Sleeperz on 3 January this year.
He denies intentionally striking a number of glass pendants, causing pieces of glass to fall to the ground below and to strike an employee. He allegedly exposed members of the public and hotel staff to the risk of injury.
MacPhail denies a second charge of wilfully or recklessly destroying or damaging property by climbing and swinging on a chandelier and damaging pendants by striking them.
MacPhail – who was allegedly on bail at the time – also denies a third charge of resisting, obstructing or hindering PCs Lewis Smith and Gary Cameron by struggling with them.
Defence solicitor Jim Laverty asked for the trial to be put off and told the court that MacPhail was offshore. Sheriff Alistair Carmichael granted the adjournment.
The £65 per night hotel has 120 bedrooms and is situated adjacent to Dundee Railway Station.
