A Leven dad who was caught with sick child abuse photos on his mobile phones has been placed on supervision.
John Gallagher, 39, pled guilty to downloading the indecent photographs between November 2020 and January 2021, at an address in Cowdenbeath.
He appeared earlier this summer at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court to admit the charge.
This week, he returned to the town’s court to be sentenced.
Sheriff Ian Anderson placed him under supervision and on the sex offenders register for two years.
Gallagher must also complete the Moving Forward: Making Changes programme for rehabilitating sex offenders.
Cyber crime search
At a previous hearing, Procurator fiscal depute Claire Bremner told the court that police cyber crime officers searched a mobile phone seized at an address in Glasgow and found a WhatsApp conversation linked to Gallagher’s phone.
This conversation was found to contain indecent images of children and discussed abuse of children.
Police searched Gallagher’s home address and found 36 indecent images on one phone and one image on another.
Of those, eight photos were of the most graphic kind.
Defence lawyer Chris Sneddon said Gallagher, of William Laing Crescent in Leven, had no previous convictions.
