A former paratrooper from Fife who raped three women in four years has been jailed.
Serial sex offender Alan Adsley, 40, was jailed for a total of 18 years, seven months and three weeks.
He was told it would be consecutive to a sentence he is already serving.
The father-of-four, who was said to have used cocaine and steroids, made sick boasts about one of his victims – a 48-year-old – after drugging and raping her at her home in Dysart.
His other victims – both of them mothers, now aged 44 and 32 – were also raped by Adsley in their homes in Kirkcaldy.
The 44-year-old was raped repeatedly, including on one occasion while a friend of Adsley waited outside the house as “getaway driver”.
He took video footage of himself raping the 32-year-old.
On another occasion, she was repeatedly attacked by Adsley as she drove back to Fife from Blackpool, with the brute in the passenger seat.
For four hours, as she struggled to keep the car on the road, he repeatedly grabbed and yanked the steering wheel, pressed her foot on the accelerator pedal, removed her seatbelt, pulled the handbrake and pulled off the controls for the windscreen wipers and headlights.
He punched her repeatedly in the left eye, only stopping when they reached Kirkcaldy and he saw it was completely blackened.
‘Women must be protected’
Adsley, formerly of Blackcraigs, Kirkcaldy, pled guilty to two charges of assault, one of them to the danger of life.
Sentencing at the High Court in Inverness, Lord Armstrong told him: “Your conduct towards these women was violent and controlling.
“Rape is a grave crime and all women must be protected.
“The lasting effects on your victims are incalculable.
“These crimes are disturbing.”
Told trial ‘I’m not a rapist’
Adsley had trained as a boxer during 14 years in the Army and served four tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
He later worked as a roofer.
He had told the court of the assaults: “It did happen and I’m not proud of it.”
He claimed when he started boxing in the Army, “it kind of messed up my head”.
He pled not guilty to three charges of rape, one involving multiple instances, and two of sexual assault.
During his six-day trial at the High Court in Stirling, he insisted: “I’m not a rapist”.
He claimed he had never had sex with the oldest of the women and sex with the other two was always with their consent.
But a jury took just 45 minutes to find him guilty of all the charges he had denied.
The attacks too place between 2016 and 2020.
He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
Previous offence
The court heard Adsley is already serving a five-year sentence for attempting to murder a doorman after he was refused entry to a nightclub.
He had been turned away from Kitty’s in Kirkcaldy after drinking and became involved in a fracas, before returning driving a van and hitting the doorman with the vehicle in what a judge called “a revenge attack”.
He told the court at that time he was suffering PTSD.
