A 24-year-old man sank his teeth into his mother’s head during a terrifying assault at her home in Scone.
Christian Stanford left his mum with a bite mark on her forehead following last month’s attack, Perth Sheriff Court heard.
He erupted in anger when he visited her Marlee Street house on August 17.
Stanford appeared in the dock on Friday and admitted carrying out the assault but insisted the relationship with his mother was otherwise sound.
Raised clenched fist
Fiscal depute Andrew Harding told the court: “At about 2.30pm, the accused attended at his mother’s property and let himself inside.
“They were chatting together as normal before the accused began shouting at her.
“He went for the complainer and grabbed her by the head with one hand and raised the other in a clenched fist.
“He pulled the complainer towards him and bit her on the forehead.”
Mr Harding said: “The accused then released his hold and walked out of the property.
“The complainer phoned the police.
“When officers arrived they observed that the accused’s mother had a bite mark on her forehead.
“The bite did not break the skin but she declined medical attention.”
Stanford was traced outside the house and identified himself to police.
Still on ‘good terms’
Representing himself in court, unemployed Stanford told Sheriff Mark O’Hanlon he had “nothing to say”.
When pressed about the incident, he said: “Me and my mum have a lot of issues going back to childhood.
“I’m not speaking to her just now but only because of bail conditions.
“Other than that, our relationship is okay and we speak on good terms.”
Sheriff O’Hanlon deferred sentence for six months to give Stanford the chance to prove he can stay out of trouble.
“I want to see if this was just a one-off incident,” he said.
Stanford, of High Street, Perth, will return to the dock to learn his fate on March 22.
