A Birmingham-based county lines dealer will be monitored for the longest period available after being caught running a cocaine racket from a Dundee flat.
Police found thousands of pounds worth of the Class-A drug when they raided the property being used by Abdul Moustapha on March 12 2020.
Officers executed a drug search warrant at a flat on Forest Park Road and uncovered the 21-year-old’s stash.
Cocaine worth over £6k discovered
They found 57.53 grammes of cocaine and Moustapha’s DNA was found on the pre-prepared packages.
Police valued the haul at £6,030.
After being taken to Dundee police headquarters, Moustapha gave a no comment interview.
At the time, his address was in Birmingham.
The drugs and a set of scales which were found inside were forfeited to the Crown at a previous hearing.
Now of the English city’s Millside, Moustapha returned to Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday, having earlier pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine.
Allegations his activity was connected to “serious crime” were dropped at the time of his plea.
Alternative to custody
Moustapha also admitted failing to appear at a previous court hearing.
Sentencing had been deferred for a social work report.
Sheriff Paul Brown said: “This is a serious matter, however I take into account your young age and relative lack of record.
“Because of your age, I do think there is an alternative here.
“I must warn you here, this is an alternative to custody.
“If you breach this, you can expect to be brought back here.”
The sheriff gave Moustapha one year to complete 300 hours of unpaid work.
Moustapha will also be supervised for three years, the maximum time period available to sheriffs imposing community payback orders.
