A Fife man has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder a woman by striking her to the head with a meat cleaver.
Logan Docherty, 22, appeared in private at Dunfermline Sheriff Court this week to face the charge.
It is alleged he assaulted the woman in Lochgelly’s Stationhead Road by striking her to the head with the weapon to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement, attempting to murder her.
Docherty, whose address in court was given only as Lochgelly, is also accused of assaulting a male with a meat cleaver.
He faces two further charges of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly striking a door with a meat cleaver and vandalising a door by kicking and breaking a glass panel in it.
Docherty faces a fifth charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by acting aggressively and shouting threats towards police officers.
The alleged offences are said to have taken place on September 10.
Docherty made no plea and was fully committed and remanded in custody.
