A St Johnstone fan who threatened to stab Perth nurses when they refused to give him a CT scan has been given time to complete a coaching course and prove he can behave.
Cameron Lorimer was ordered by a court to stay out of trouble for six months.
Lorimer, who is subject to a football banning order for inciting a near-riot at McDiarmid Park, ranted at Perth Royal Infirmary staff during the first months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Two of the nurses were heavily pregnant at the time.
The 20-year-old appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted two charges of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.at the hospital in July 2020.
Sheriff Robert Carr deferred sentence for six months to give Lorimer the chance to work on a football coaching programme, which is part of his community service.
The deferral will give Lorimer the chance to prove to the court he can behave.
“Your behaviour was wholly unacceptable,” said the sheriff.
“Health professionals should be able to go about their work without being subjected to this kind of behaviour.”
He urged Lorimer to adopt an “offence-free lifestyle”.
Solicitor Pauline Cullerton said her client may have been concussed at the time, after suffering a knock to the head earlier that day.
“He knows his behaviour was unacceptable and he accepts full responsibility,” she said.
Stab threats
The court heard Lorimer, of Staffa Court, Perth, erupted in anger while being assessed by a staff nurse and student nurse.
Fiscal depute Matthew Kerr said the St Johnstone supporter “made a threat to stab the nurses if they attempted to come close to him”.
Lorimer was discharged but returned to hospital later on after growing concerns about his health.
He was put in “secluded” part of the hospital and kept overnight.
The next day he shouted and swore at two other nurses, who were both 22-weeks pregnant at the time.
In December, Lorimer was banned from attending football matches for two years after he admitted inciting violent scenes at McDiarmid Park.
Lorimer led about 40 younger fans in a hostile and aggressive clash with police and stadium stewards.
