A road rage driver threatened another motorist with a towing eye during a flare-up on the A9.

Robbie Murray appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted driving carelessly while making indecent hand signals on the dual carriageway near Dunblane in January last year.

The 31-year-old pled guilty to driving an Audi A3 without due care and attention, near the B8033 Ashfield junction and overtaking another car driven by Shaun McKenzie.

Murray, of Logie Crescent, Perth, failed to maintain a safe distance between the two cars, causing Mr McKenzie to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

He admitted making obscene gestures towards the other driver.

Murray also pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, likely to cause fear or alarm, further along the A9 near the Greenloaning junction.

According to court papers, he brandished a towing eye, or similar item, at Mr McKenzie and repeatedly uttered threats of violence.

Murray was originally charged with dangerous driving following the incident on January 26 2021 but his plea to a reduced charge of careless driving was accepted.

Sheriff Charles Lugton deferred sentence for background reports until October 26.

Former charity boss on Register

Former Fife charity boss Richard Etheridge has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register after admitting inappropriately touching a woman and commenting on her sex life in front of others. The 49-year-old ex-director of Cupar children’s cancer charity Toby’s Magical Journey was also given unpaid work.

Police attack

A woman has admitted attacking two police officers during a disturbance at her home in Scone.

Leanne Kerr pled guilty to the assault charges when she appeared at Perth Sheriff Court .

The 31-year-old, of Affric Avenue, assaulted PC Kerri Milne on July 3 by punching her on the body and kicking her on the head.

She also kicked PC George Lauder on the body.

The court heard Kerr suffered from PTSD.

Sheriff Andrew Webster deferred sentence for background reports until October 26.

Sex killer blaze drama

A sex killer who put her neighbours lives in danger by torching her home has been ordered to carry out 300 hours unpaid work in the community.

Victoria Kydd, who set fire to the house in a bid to “burn her old life,” has also been placed under social work supervision for three years.

Kydd, 43, has previously served a five-year prison sentence for stabbing her lover to death when he refused to have sex with her.

Attempted murder petition

A woman has appeared in court charged with attempting to murder a teenage boy in Fife.

Emma Scott made no plea when she appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

The 26-year-old is charged with assaulting a 16-year-old at Provosts Land in Leslie on Saturday night.

It’s alleged she assaulted him to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger of life and attempted to murder him.

She also faces a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

Scott, of Glenrothes, was released on bail and the case was continued for further examination.

She is expected to appear again within the next eight days.

Fan’s Instagram bungle

A bungling St Johnstone fan was arrested for his role in a near-riot at McDiarmid Park after posting a selfie from the scene on his Instagram account.

Cameron McIntosh was amongst a group of about 30 supporters who clashed with police and stewards at the Perth stadium following Saints’ historic Scottish Cup win last summer.

Cameron McIntosh admitted his role in the disturbance as the victorious team arrived back at McDiarmid Park.

Detectives struggled to identify many of the men from CCTV footage because most were wearing masks and hoods.

But McIntosh removed his balaclava for his incriminating Instagram shot, Perth Sheriff Court heard.
