A Fife nurse was caught driving while more than five times the legal drink-drive limit.
Karen Nicholson was found in a car by police officers responding to reports of a collision in South Parks Road, Glenrothes, on August 28.
Procurator fiscal depute Eve McKaig said Nicholson initially denied she had been drinking alcohol but later returned an alcohol in breath reading of 118mics/22 and disclosed she had been boozing earlier that day.
The 44-year-old, of Kirkcaldy’s Kidd Street, appeared in the dock this week to admit the drink-driving charge.
Defence lawyer Morgan Wilson told Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court Nicholson had taken full responsibility from the outset for what was a “serious mistake”.
The solicitor said Nicholson is in full time employment as a primary care nurse and lives about a 10-minute walk away from her job in a hospital.
Ms Wilson said her client had been driving for 18 years and had no previous convictions.
She added Nicholson had lost her mother last year and that a long-term relationship broke down just weeks before the incident.
Sheriff Ian Anderson told Nicholson: “This is a very high level of alcohol.
“You will be entitled to take part in the drink-driver rehabilitation scheme.”
The sheriff banned Nicholson from driving for 16 months and fined her £400.
