A man who bombarded his ex-partner with sinister threatening phone calls from prison has been handed further jail time.
George McKenna also called police and ambulance services to the woman’s Kirkcaldy home – 60 miles from his cell at HMP Low Moss – causing staff from both to attend.
McKenna told 999 call handlers his former partner had suffered a break-in, a man was in her garden and she was taking drugs in front of children.
He pled guilty to a campaign of abuse towards his ex-partner between April 2020 and May 2021.
Sheriff Alison McKay said: “I am very concerned about these messages and that your abusive conduct took place over a period of time and it continues once you’re in custody.”
She jailed him for 27 months.
Once released he will be under supervision for 12 months.
Sheriff McKay said she needed to protect any future partners so during the supervised release period he must inform social workers of any new relationships.
He is also banned from contacting his victim for two years.
Advice from fellow prisoners
Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court previously heard McKenna had been dumped by the woman and took advice from fellow prisoners on how to deal with the break-up.
McKenna, 32, was jailed for unrelated matters six months into the couple’s relationship but the court heard he had been controlling from the start.
From prison McKenna left dozens of abusive voicemails, four of which were played in court.
He threatened to kill the woman and her family, set fire to their homes, said he had people watching her and demanded money.
During his ranting, he said he would shoot her, chop her up, bury her and put her in a vat of acid to make sure there were no traces left.
He told her everyone in Fife hated her.
His solicitor Alan Davie said he had no plans on acting on these threats and his reaction was due to him following advice from other prisoners.
