A Dundee woman chased her friend and stabbed him repeatedly with a knife as he tried to run for his life.
Claire Lizanec, 41, plunged the knife into Rhys Campbell’s hand and body as he desperately tried to clamber over a fence to get away from her.
They had been drinking together with a third person when they had a fall-out over payment for a £50 bag of cocaine, a court was told.
Mr Campbell was left impaired for life, with pins and needles in his hand and a loss of ability to grip items.
Lizanec, of Orleans Place, Dundee, admitted assaulting Mr Campbell with a knife to his severe injury and permanent impairment in Balunie Street on June 3 last year.
Chased and stabbed
Fiscal depute Lynne Mannion told Dundee Sheriff Court the trio had been in a house when they decided to source cocaine.
This led to an argument over how to fund the drug purchase.
“The accused and the complainer continued to argue,” she said.
“The accused had a knife.
“The complainer then received a cut to his hand.
“Mr Campbell ran into the front garden, pursued by the accused attacking him with the knife.
“He tried to climb a fence and could feel the accused continue to stab him.
“He managed to climb the fence to make his escape.”
Prison warning
Mr Campbell ran into a neighbouring property and told the occupant: “Phone the police – I’ve been stabbed.”
Ms Mannion told the court the victim needed stitches after being stabbed in the hands and shoulders and had been left partially disabled as a result of the injuries.
Solicitor Jim Caird, defending Lizanec, said: “She is ashamed and very regretful.
“Drugs had been taken this night.
“The behaviour was characterised as chaotic.”
Sheriff George Way deferred sentence for the preparation of background reports and warned Lizanec, despite being granted bail, she should not assume she would avoid a jail term.
