A butcher sexually assaulted a young woman at his workplace in Glenrothes, a court has heard.
Martin Parish, 41, rubbed himself against his victim’s bottom while she was bent over at Fife Butchers in the town’s Kingdom Centre.
Procurator fiscal depute Rachel Hill told Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court: “The accused was asked to stop but he did not and she froze in fear.
“The accused thereafter said to her, ‘well that was nice’.”
The fiscal depute said the young woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said she felt “totally violated” after the incident.
Parish, of School Drive in Glenrothes, appeared in the dock this week for sentencing having previously pled guilty to the offence.
He admitted sexually assaulting the young woman on an occasion in August last year by pressing himself against her and rubbing his clothed genitals against her bottom.
Defence lawyer Paul Anderson described it as an “isolated incident”.
He told the court Parish is a master butcher and the shop owners spoke “very highly” of him.
The solicitor said Parish’s life has “taken a downturn” since the incident and he has lost his employment.
Mr Anderson said: “He is struggling and he is a man with a great deal of issues, perhaps unresolved issues from his past”.
In sentencing Parish, Sheriff Timothy Niven-Smith said it was important not to lose sight of the fact the offender and his victim were fully clothed at the time of the incident and that Parish has no previous convictions.
The sheriff also said there was no suggestion Parish had a “predilection for young girls”.
The sheriff sentenced Parish to 12 months of offender supervision and placed him on the Sex Offenders Register for the same period of time.
