A Fife accountant was found intoxicated at the wheel by a recovery truck driver who arrived to change her car tyre.
Lee Christie appeared to be asleep when the driver approached to tell her the car was parked in a hazardous place.
She woke and agreed to move the vehicle to a safer position.
However, the recovery driver had concerns about her demeanour and police were called.
Moved car while unfit
At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court Christie admitted being unfit to drive through drink or drugs on Mitchelston Drive, Kirkcaldy, on September 12.
The court heard she drove around 200 metres.
Fiscal depute Catherine Stevenson said: “The accused was sat in the driver’s seat and there were no other people within.
“She appeared to be asleep and he (the recovery driver) chapped on the window, which woke the accused up.
“He stated he could not change her tyre as she was in a dangerous location so she drove 200 metres away.”
After sitting Christie in his cab the driver had concerns over her actions.
Ms Stevenson continued: “Her eyes were continually closing and while her speech was fine, she seems to be not all there.”
Christie’s mother arrived and told the man Christie was an alcoholic who had visited her GP that morning and been ordered to detox.
Christie was also found to be in possession of a bottle of vodka.
The 59-year-old’s solicitor said she had a problem with alcohol.
She said: “She was stressed at the thought of having to detox.
“She works in finance and is an accountant.
“However she does suffer alcohol issues and understands the consequences of her actions.”
Sheriff Ian Anderson banned Christie, of Craigearn Avenue, Kirkcaldy, from the roads for 12 months and fined her £400.
