A paedophile caught with nearly 700 hours of sickening child abuse videos has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register and banned from unsupervised contact with children.
Connor Sangster had a huge stash of nearly 5,000 videos, which would have taken him almost a month to watch back-to-back.
Sangster, 26, gathered the illicit haul of videos and images over an eight-year period.
Fiscal depute Marie Lyons told Dundee Sheriff Court Police Scotland were given a tip-off outlawed material may be found at Sangster’s Arbroath home.
An early-morning raid was carried out at his family home and he immediately confessed what he had been doing.
Sangster told police: “I won’t waste your time.
“You will find what you are looking for.
“It’s on my phone, laptop and SD card.”
Banned from child contact
Mrs Lyons told the court a total of 4,179 still images were found across his devices, along with 4,881 videos.
She said the combined run-time of the videos was over 665 hours and would have taken 27 days, 17 hours, 23 minutes and 20 seconds to watch from start to end.
Sangster, of Ella Cargill Place, Arbroath, admitted two charges of downloading and possessing indecent images of children between November 1 2013 and April 22 2021.
Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown placed Sangster under supervision and on the Sex Offenders Register for three years and ordered him to carry out 200 hours unpaid community work.
She also placed him under a conduct requirement, restricting his access to the internet and banning him from having unsupervised contact with anyone under 16.
She told Sangster she was not jailing him because he was a first offender and said the sentence imposed upon him was a direct alternative to custody.
