A Perth woman who grew a small cannabis crop at her Letham flat has been fined £300.
Avalon Ellis appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted producing the Class B drug on November 30 last year.
Officers found two plants, valued at around £200 each, within the first offender’s Campsie Road flat, as well as a light and air filter.
Fiscal depute Elizabeth Hodgson confirmed there was no evidence of the 47-year-old supplying the drug to others.
Killed restaurant colleague
Restaurant worker Abdul Foyez, 27, killed a colleague with a single knife blow. Mohammed Salim Uddin died after the assault at the Gulshan Tandoori in Inverkeithing in September 2021. Foyez, currently at Carstairs state hospital faced a murder charge but was acquitted when it was deemed he suffered paranoid schizophrenia at the time.
Nemesis punched
A teenager repeatedly punched a nemesis after coming across him in the grounds of a Fife church.
Cameron Caird had previously been friends with his victim but they had fallen out.
Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard the resentment had “festered” and Caird had attacked the other teen after coming across him in the grounds of Dalgety Bay Parish Church.
Caird, 18, of King Street, Inverkeithing admitted punching his rival in the face on January 13.
He was ordered to carry out 95 hours of unpaid work.
Taxi attack
A bank worker has been jailed for a “brutal and sustained” attack on two court officials in Perth. Connor Rogers flew into a rage and battered both men following a mix-up at a Glasgow Road taxi rank.
Drunken shove
A council worker who assaulted his ex-partner has been ordered to wear an electronic tag.
Scott Guthrie, 41, shoved his former partner during a drunken night-in at a friend’s house in Seaton Place, Arbroath on August 21.
Forfar Sheriff Court heard the pair are separated but remain on civil terms.
Fiscal depute Jill Drummond said: “The accused and the complainer became argumentative.
“The accused asked the complainer to make him a cigarette but when she reached into his shorts to get his tobacco, the accused grabbed her wrists and pushed her back, causing her to go against the kitchen wall.”
The court heard Guthrie was ejected and police were called but he could not be found.
His ex then received a call saying that Guthrie was at her home, where police found him.
Guthrie pled guilty to assault.
Sheriff Krista Johnston said: “If there are difficulties with your relationship, there are ways of dealing with that without resorting to this sort of behaviour.”
Guthrie, of Weaver’s Close, was placed on supervision for nine months and will have to wear an ankle tag as part of a three-month restriction of liberty order.
